Fighting Terror: What Works, What Doesn't? JUST ASK ISRAEL

Okay, there's some lessons out there to be learned. The eternal question: is anybody learning, anything, at all? The eternal answer: What's on t.v? Well, News for one thing, and for all my fellow MetaNews Analysts out there there's just all sorts of interesting things worth looking at, poking, prodding and finally coming up with some kind of answer.

How about the two different approaches to fighting terrorism that we all saw and are seeing right now? Those two approaches: Army and Military Might versus Intelligence and Good Police Work. Let's break it down, shall we?

ARMY AND MILITARY MIGHT: Battlegrounds: Iraq and Lebanon. Byproduct of Approach: Fostering of yet more hatred in the realm and the breeding of future generations of terrorists. This is beyond debate at this point, noone can credibly deny in any way that America and Israel's military 'responses' to 'Terrorism' has done anything but increase popularity of such movements and will inevitably sow more chaos and doom in the future. Hey folks, the proof is in the pudding: Hezbollah's still sticking around and will be more powerful than ever as a DIRECT RESULT of Israel's military gambit. They’ve hung in tight against a vastly stronger and multifaceted force and gained prestige in the Arab world and even the larger international arena. With Israel’s hideously monstrous actions against the entire nation of Lebanon comes the percieved legitimacy of Hezbollah in the eyes of people in the area and even many outside of it. If, as Dubya says, Lebanon is a front on the "War on Terror," I have to conclude that an important battle has been lost by US-ISRAEL. Tough noogies, all, War is for savages anyway.

INTELLIGENCE AND GOOD POLICEWORK: Battlegrounds: London and Canada. The bus bombings in London showed a textbook definition of how to treat a terrorist act. Forget whipping the populace up into a state of perpetual fear so you can remove all their rights and usher in eternal war, take a novel approach and actually pursue and catch the bad guys. Which they did. Within days. We have seen another example in the last few days where the UK has successfully intervened in thwarting another terrorist plot (though we'll see about the legitimacy of this in time) and Canada did the same a few months ago, again using good intelligence and strong policework.
Byproduct of Approach: criminals apprehended, world more safe, etc.

Seeing a pattern here? Your 'Global War on Terror' is a vast and undeniable failure, doomed from the start. Spend ALL THAT MONEY on prevention and intelligence and you'd be golden, instead of totally at risk as you still are to this very day.

CONCLUSION 1: Terrorism is best fought by good police work, great Intelligence and enhanced anti-terrorism detection techniques. This is an inescapable fact.

CONCLUSION 2: Israel-America’s greatest enemy in the Arab world? Israel-America.
