Soul of a Woman

Enough ranting. Sleep takes hold again, enslavement to the corporeal form overpowers the hulking need to say something, to make some semblence of sense of everything that has gone on and is going on. All of a sudden I'm in a pool at some great big, swanky party, a massive band playing 'the Marriage of Figaro.' I look around.

Total absence of color. Black and white like some old movie. How did I get here? Who are all these people? Judging by their dress I am amidst the upper crust, but the feeling I have is that I am not here for social purposes.

I'm chatting with a large house cat who seems to have no issues with water, pools or swanky parties and I'm trying to get some kind of information from it, the details of which float just beyond my consciousness. Ginger, from Gilligan's Island floats in, her bounteous boobs gloriously bouyant. She sidles up to me, passes me a martini and gives me a little snuggle. That's it: I'm Bond. Nice. I could just have easily become Gary Coleman.

"You're some kind of detective, right?"

"Some kind," I respond, and for the purpose of the dream, become.

"Maybe you can help me, protect me?" She presses her grand peaches up against my chest and I nuzzle her neck, inhaling a delicious scent that I can't quite place. What is that scent?

"You just stick close, baby," I respond, "I'll take care of you." I take a sip from my drink and put my arms around her waist, picking her up a little and she squeals with delight. "You gotta name, or should I just call you Serendipity?"

"I'm Ginger!"

"Of course you are." So smooth, Mr. Bond! "Heh, heh."

"You know, Gilligan's Island?"

"Sure!" I don't care whose island it is. It ain't about "Gilligan's Island" at all at this point, it's all about "Ginger's Peaches" and I'm looking to co-star as soon as possible. Fuck Gilligan, it's MY fucking island. That scent again. What the hell is it? Maybe it's actual ginger I smell and this spicy tiger has the smarts to link the name and perfume. But it's not ginger, is it...no. Somewhere in the distance, a warning claxon goes off, just once.

"Did you hear that?"

"Hear what?" she coos at me, tracing a finger down my chest.

"Nothing," I respond as the oversized housecat floats languidly by again, a sly look on its face.

It whispers at me casually, with a wink: "Beware the smart ones," it mews, "nothin but pain..." I splash some water at it, it hisses and paddles off.

"So, what's your concern, Miss Ginger?" I ask her and place a warm kiss right between her bikinied breasts. Another sip of the martini and it seems I'm getting a little dizzy. I'm pretty good at holding my liquor and damn near bullet-proof at it when a dame's in the picture. A warning claxon again, louder this time, longer. The music is changing, another tune, a strange one for an orchestra to play and like that smell I can't quite place the song, though I'm certain it hovers just barely beyond the range of my consciousness.

"It seems," Ginger says, "that my husband has some asshole poking around his concerns."

"Well, if you're one of those concerns, he could hardly blame a fella for wanting to poke around a little." As smooth as can be expected given that I'm barely able to stand anymore. It's no longer so much a sensual embrace as it is me clinging to her for my very survival. Her laugh is shrill as she escapes my grasp and saunters away, her deep eyes still staring into my being over her shoulder.

The music is overbearingly loud and the tune comes to me, it's some impossibly strange version of a Zeppelin tune, my own drugged up mind supplying Plant's lyrics:

"Been Dazed and Confused for so long it's not true.
Wanted a woman, never bargained for you.
Lots of people talk and few of them know,
soul of a woman was created below
."

With the recognization of the tune my lazy mind finally synthesizes the situation: I'm not smelling ginger or even Ginger, it's almonds. Ginger, that fucking whore, has poisoned me.

"Hey, shit, dude!" I spurt at that damned oversized housecat I'd been chatting with, "you gotta help me! Call the cops! Call the Skipper, would ya! Call somebody, shit, I've been poisoned!"

The cat just laughs at me as I slip under the surface of the water and the last thing I hear before resting on the floor of the pool -I'll just rest for a second, just closing my eyes, really- is that cat's laughing mewl:

"I warned you about the smart ones!"

I wake up gasping for air on the floor of my living room and give my head a shake. Reality takes a beating again as I can still hear that crazy, tripped-out version of 'Dazed and Confused' in my mind in tandem with the real version that's playing on my alarm clock.

A hum-dinger, that one. I fire up a coffee and think about that dream, and, being an arm-chair dream analyst, I come up with what I come up with.

How to Stop the Rising, World-Beating Tide of Islamofascism

Do Nothing, It Never Existed. One of Dubya’s boys made it up from whole cloth. Kinda like all them WMDs Saddam never had. Or like them connections Saddam and Al Quaeda never had. Or Dubya being from Texas. That kind of shit. Never existed, no basis in Reality. Made from whole cloth. Horse pucky. Chicken of the rubber variety.

Note to reader, whosoever you may be: Do not confuse IslamoFascism with Terrorism. By all means be afraid of Terrorism. That’s why it’s called Terrorism. Yes. Be, um, very afraid. Anyways…

911 scare you into doing whatever we say? What if the Muslims TAKE OVER THE WORLD!!! They’re COMING FRIENDS, and they’ve BROUGHT THEIR BOX-CUTTERS!!! Hope you SPEAK ARABIC!!! Trade in your G-strings for a totally amorphous BURKAH!! Look forward to the rest of your life, dressed up like a SACK OF POTATOES!! BITCHES!!! And what-not.

Ridiculous, I know. But I hear this all the time on this site and others like it. And on TV (granted, only really by the idiots at Fox. Or by Dubya). Like if we don't continue pouring in bodies and bullets at the MidEast then the Fundy Muzzies will rise and somehow aspire to the miraculous position of utter dominance over the far more powerful West, to the point that America's Citizenry will be forced to adopt the odious Way of the Dirty Arab, Forever.

It’s ridiculous. Take over the world. Please. Gonna be tough. Gonna need boats. Lots of ‘em. Got lots of boats? What about shitloads of planes and tanks and such? Got shitloads of planes and tanks and such? Shitloads of satellites and intel? What about ABSOLUTELY LIMITLESS FINANCIAL RESOURCES! Got ABSOLUTELY LIMITLESS FINANCIAL RESOURCES? I figger you don’t. I figger if the best way you’ve devised to fight your blood enemy (who’s firing at you with some of the most sophisticated weapons in the history of War) is by strapping dynamite to your Citizen’s freaking chests, I’m gonna hazard a wild guess that you most likely don’t have ABSOLUTELY LIMITLESS FINANCIAL RESOURCES. Which, you’re gonna need. Gonna have to feed a lot of soldiers. Buy shitloads of box-cutters. And what-not. That’s if you plan on INVADING, OCCUPYING and TAKING OVER THE ENTIRE WORLD.

Yeesh. Whole thing sounds so…I don’t know…Vietnamish? You remember Vietnam, right? The forces of Democracy had to meet head on with the raging Communist hoard, once and for all, with the Freedom of the Entire World at stake? Thank the baby Jesus we did and that we stopped ‘em cold, cuz well, what if we hadn’t? How’s yer Russian, comrade? Seriously. It was that close. But we stopped ‘em cold. Sorry? What’s that? We didn’t? What do you mean we never stopped the Communist advance in the jungles of Vietnam? Is this all some crazy Soviet mass thought experiment? Am I in the Matrix? Cool.

Did you know that Robert MacNamara, who served as Secretary of Defense during the Vietnam War years once got into a fist-fight with his Vietnamese counterpart in a bar because they couldn’t agree on what the Vietnam war had actually been about? True story. Long after the conflict had ended. Vietnamese dude got all indignant. He’s like: “We were joining Communist China?!? Are you crazy? WE’VE FOUGHT THEM OFF IN THESE LANDS FOR CENTURIES.” Then they got into a fist-fight over it. Cuz they couldn’t agree with the cause. Cool, huh? Oh sure, scary as fuck, but a cool story.

I digress. Where was I? Ah yes. The evil Islamofascist scourge. It's not even correct gramatically. You need a fully functioning State to be Fascist. That's in the definition folks. It's how it works.

Do you need to wear underwear under a burkah? I went to a bar in a kilt once and I'll tell you, I had a blast that night. What a hoot. Easiest trip to the biffy you ever saw. Step up to the urinal, lift your kilt and you're off to the races. Had a woman put her hand up my kilt that night and I giggled like a schoolgirl. Can you blame me?

I guess the point is that I’m not telling you not to be afraid of terrorists. I’m not telling you not to be afraid of Islamic extremists. I’m not even trying to tell you not to be afraid of Muslims, dark people, your next door neighbour or circus clowns. I am telling you not to be afraid of the Rising Tide of World-Beating IslamoFascists. It was just the scariest thing the NeoCons could imagine to spring on you after the latest scandal or stupid decision.

THIS HAS BEEN A PUBLIC SERVICE BROUGHT TO YOU BY THE SENSECHANGE CENTER FOR POSITIVE CHANGE. HAVE A GREAT DAY.

That is all.

NonRandomMP3age: "Everybody Knows," Leonard Cohen.

All Roads

Up at four thirty to drop off a vehicle, return to the casbah, get our shit together.

I’m with Lucas and Rachel for this particular adventure. Supposed to be a couple chicks coming along which bodes well for old Sensey. We are to be together at 5:30 to make all the ferries, connections, directions and what-not. The chicks aren't there and we can’t wait for them. Rachel and Lucas look to me for judgement. Fuck it, I sigh. All roads lead to Rome. Same position I took about Tim’s week long waffling on whether he was gonna make it or not. He’s a guitar virtuoso and his axe will be sorely missed around the fire but what’re you gonna do? All roads lead to Rome and if he’s to be there he’ll be there. If he ain’t he won’t. We take off.

We’re hooking up for a weekend with some Hopis to whom I am acquainted for a mind-bending weekend at Rachel’s cottage. These folks travel around and offer vision-quests and sprititual transcendence for a hefty price, a nice dollar if you can get into it, to be sure. We are old friends so there is no charge and they too will seeking visions on this particular weekend.

Rachel laughs about something I said the night before at the party, said she wants to make it into a t-shirt. Somebody’d asked me something and I responded quite simply that I “admit and regret nothing,” before stumbling into an end-table and upending a full tray of drinks. Rather than getting pissed at me (and how could she) she went to the trouble of writing the expression down. Like I’d forget it. I liked the sound of it too.

Hanging on this big rock shelf that will be entirely erased with the tide before the end of the day. It is our haunt but only for so long and it is absolutely perfect. Little pockets of life within the rocks. Sublime. The perfect place for a vision quest. What I need. What I seek this day more than anything else.

Lucas bangs away at the guitar. He’s found it, the raw skeleton of ‘Folsom County Prison’ and I’d need no more than that. Did I not sing it all the way up that treacherous path through the mountains, racing in a pick-up truck to meet up with my old friends in the first place? Tim could nail the thing perfectly but Lucas is coming at it from a whole different angle and it's bloody perfect. Tim is not to be here, not now, and he ain't.

One of the girls (who’d made it up there after all, God love ‘em) tells me to sing it deeper. She doesn’t know. I’m singing young Johnny on this one. Meaning I’m gonna go deep but only where it really needs it. I bust it out and I’m nailin’ it and every time I go deep I look at that girl right in the eyes and sing it to her like she’s the only person who can hear me. Fuckin’ A. I think Johnny’d be proud ‘a me. Even if I do change a few words around here and there, like those folks in the train ain’t drinkin’ coffee but whiskey and smoking 'fat' cigars rather than 'big' ones. Think Johnny’d approve of that too, that he understood a little improv for effect.

The girls see a starfish, marooned and dried amongst the rocks and worry good naturedly about its survival. One tries to peel him off, to rescue it, and I stop her. It is a part of its Life. The tide will come in, in time soften up his shell, he will release himself from the rocks and return once again to the ocean. He’s just waiting for one of Life’s most reliable buses.

I conspire for a kiss. Tell you something, I don’t mind keepin’ it to myself. Personally. Do it all the time. Promise not to tell and never telling. Keeping it only between lovers. You? She is to meet me behind a big tree. Just a kiss, one kiss and one kiss alone. I swear upon it. We’ll see.

One of the girls seeks a rock shaped like a heart and I find it for her before she even finishes the sentence. It is thick and rough, like my own and it is as beautiful as it should be. It is a moment of magic, not between a Man and a Woman but between Man, Woman and Something Else. It is that Something Else that I seek to commune with on this day. If I am to make it with one or both girls then I’m certain that will happen, but transcendence of the Mortal realm, if only for a few fleeting seconds, is a tougher nut to crack and I seek nothing less. It has been too long.

Lucas is communing with the Hopis. He has a set of bongo drums and they have various instruments of percussion. The music stirs my heart, makes me feel larger than myself. I feel watched for a second and cannot shake it until I look across the inlet at a vast, black rock. It radiates a brand of energy that my mind is particularly hip to at the moment and I know that if my vision is to be met, this be a place of magic. I am to go there. Immediately. As I am now. I go.

I walk into the water, still clothed and begin my swim. It’s a long swim, burdened by clothing and sandals as I am, but the drums give me strength and make return impossible until I have met my vision, whatever it be. Tired at the half-way point, so tired I think of ditching my sandals for my own safety and survival then realize they could be used for my safety and survival instead. I would take them in my hands, transform them into paddles if I have to. But the beating of the drums keeps my strength, and I reserve this strategy for if and when I would truly need it.

At this point something large and white swims right beneath me and I have time to wonder what nature of beast it be. I haven’t an ounce of fear, not for even an instant. If this white thing, whatever it be were to drag me out to sea and eat me then that is my destiny. It is to be. See? My blood, bones and soul would never become closer to Oneness with the Great Ocean than being torn to bits at the teeth of some great and savage beast. All roads lead to Rome. Oneness. I’m struck there, floating on my back and knowing in my very soul that this was my lesson, my message I was and am supposed to learn on this day, the force and Truth of it making it undeniable. Lesson learned and I’ve not yet reached the Great Rock, which bodes well and I’ll tell you why.

The Gods don’t spend a whole lot of their Time throwing all sorts of lessons at you. Us Mortals are fickle and distracted easily. It may be an inevitable byproduct of our Mortality or we may just be numbskulls. Regardless, I assure you, the cosmos teaches its lessons to you one at a time. And guess what, folks; you’re fucked until you get it. You keep dating the wrong people, making the same mistakes and follow the same damn cycle over and over again til that lesson is learned and Change is made. I digress. Point is that my lesson was already learned and I hadn’t met my Vision yet or even reached the place of magic. The rock meant something more. Other things were possible.

There is a rare opportunity that Mortals sometimes have, my Hopi friends tell me, which is a communion of sorts. With the Gods. With God. With the Cosmos. It takes the right mind at the right Time and circumstance but it’s doable, has and does happen. If any mortal can, I have faith in myself that I too can. If not me, who? If not here, where? If not today, when?

I reach the shore and climb the face of it this obsidian behemoth. Where ocean meets sky I ride the rock like a steed into space and speak my piece:

“If there be a sentient Being more powerful than We of the Mortal realm and if that Being deigns at times to commune with Man, I ask for such communion. I swear before you that no Mortal Man alive or dead is more receptive to your message or signs than I who stands before you here and now. Speak, if you will."

I look to the Heavens and see an eye open above me in the clouds, looking at me. It turns its focus just to the left of me where I notice, right away, a face built into the rocks, a craggy, all knowing face with the same eye I’d seen in the clouds. It speaks, I listen. I speak, it listens. I see another face and it too speaks. To it I listen and when in turn I speak, it too listens. Then I see thousands of faces in that rock, all of it speaking and listening even as I speak and listen. This, communion.

I’ll not tell everything that was said that day at the rock, for a Man’s destiny when revealed is best left to himself but I will tell you what you need know. All those faces were all the gods. They were Allah, they were Christ, they were. The message they give me on this day is that all those faces, those gods are One. As is the rock underneath me, the large white shape that had swum beneath me on my way, and as am I. I am Allah. I am God. I am the rock. And so are you.

The rock tells me all it has to say and all eyes in all faces turn, look down into the crevice that splits the rock right up the middle. I am to descend to the very heart of the rock. There is something more there for me, the magic is not quite finished.

The Hopis tell me that when the Spirit world and Man successfully commune, the gods often give that Mortal a gift of sorts. I require nothing more than the gift of this Higher Insight into that which is the Universal Oneness of all things, but I am not a fool and would not risk offense. I climb down to the heart of the rock, my sandals threatening mutiny at every turn. I slip at one point and nearly tumble to my death but I have no fear. What more suitable place for my bleached bones to decay and become a part of the larger One than in this place of great magic? Could I ask for a better place, if not time? Regardless, it is not to be on this particular day. All roads lead to Rome, all Rivers to the Sea, eventually. I reach the heart and there it is. My gift from the cosmos.

Rather than swim back I decide on the long walk around the shore. I’m not ready to speak with my friends, I have digesting to do, reflection. This reflection goes on to the moment I write of it, will go on until I’m silenced forever. If ever. Onness makes you think on these matters. How can One truly be gone if One yet remains?

I snap from my thoughts as darkness falls about me. How long have I been ruminating on this? Long enough for me friends to have built a fire and for me to be stumbling in the darkness, apparently. For the second time that day I feel a presence, behind me this time and undoubtable when I hear a low growl that turns into something of a roar. I turn and look and all I can detect in the darkness are blazing eyes. Big blazing eyes. I am unafraid.

The gift from the Gods was this tree-branch honed by the forces of Nature into a perfect spear, and though it be thick and rough it is every bit as beautiful a gift as one could expect from the Gods. Blunt on one end, sharp on the other. A walking tool if needs be, a weapon also. I'd hefted it in my hands and thanked the Powers that be for my gift, and made to them the following oath:

“I’ll not hurl unless I mean to strike. I’ll not strike unless I mean to kill.”

When I turn to face the beast in the night I am comforted by the weight of the thing in my hand. I slowly circle the beast, discerning in the darkness that I am face to face with a large bear, ravenous and crazed, species indeterminate. He saunters in the direction of my friends and I’ll not allow his passage on this day nor any other. I’ll stop him from reaching them or die trying. Maybe I’m the crazed and ravenous one. Regardless, he’ll not pass on my watch, one way or the other.

I hold my staff over my head and speak from the very pit of my stomach so this creature knows I’m not fucking around. And I’m not.

“I mean you no harm, creature. You and I are One and it serves my purposes just as well to let you live. Turn in your path or force my hand.”

It saunters forward, my hand forced. I strike him quickly right in the snout with the blunt end of my staff. These beasts have thick skulls and I know better than to think I’m gonna knock the sucker out butI might scare him off. Or piss him off worse. Fuck it. All roads to Rome, all rivers to the sea, eventually. I land a home-run swing to the temple that backs him up a few steps. He climbs to his feet and roars a blood-curdling battlecry. I do the same. Both beasts. One beast.

Mindful of my oath to the Cosmos I lift my staff to shoulder height in my right hand. I hurl, it strikes and it strikes to kill. I’ve struck the beast in the heart and its howl of pain brings me no pleasure nor sorrow. I slay him in the defence of those I love and in the ways of the Ancients I eat his heart, I drink his life-blood. We were and are one, and always will be. My spirit animal is attained.

The darkness lifts. Has a day passed or was it ever even night? I return to my friends, dizzy but so alive. Rachel greets me and tells me she believes we will always be friends. I’m filled with the love I always have for her and tell her it is my most fervent desire for it to be so. And it is.

The girls tell me of an expression in the yoga culture and it cannot be more perfect in the face of all I have learned and that has transpired on this day, blows me away again. “Namaste” they tell me is a means of greeting in which you are really saying

‘I am in that place within me that comes from truth, love and oneness and if you are also in that place within you then we are one.’

The vibe I’m tripping on these chicks are already totally hip to. All roads, I think for the billionth time that day, even as I meet one of my little yoga buddies for our clandestine kiss. It is sweet and rich and paves the way for the perfect ending for the perfect day, a mad, passionate, sweaty session on the rough floor of the cottage, trying not to make any noise but not caring in the end and when we come we cum as one. It is every bit as beautiful as anything else I saw that day. the next morning I was asked of it and I said only what I needed, that I admit and regret nothing. I was told I was a brat but it went no further.

I go back the next day to where I'd killed the beast and there was no trace. Had its carcas been claimed by the tide, taken to sea and joined the ocean or had it ever even happened? I'd never know. And I'm cool with that. It is to be that way.

Namaste. And thanks to my friends. I love you.

A Word With the Beasts

I’d chat with a terrorist, if I could and I knew he wouldn’t eat me. Absolutely. Oh, I know. We must never speak with them. Heaven forbid. It’s a maxim carved in adamantium forged in the beginning of the universe. No deals with terrorists, no talking with terrorists. We may only crush them. And by Christ we have the means! Sort of...

(Well, I guess the UK worked out their shit with the IRA through dialogue and agreement but…those are all white people. Sensible, right? Sure.)

But are we not bloggers hard on the trail of Truth? Let’s get the words right from the bloodthirsty cannibal’s mouths, once and for all!

“Gimme a root cause, you stinking savage! I don’t care about your virgin orgy in space or whatever! Motivations for hatred separate from all the religious crap! C’mon, whattaya got?”

And you know what I’d do? I’d listen. And I’d question. And I’d make notes. And I’d research.

What would I do next? Then you go ahead and do the same thing for the other side, an Israeli soldier, perhaps. Maybe a history teacher called up from the reserves. And I’d listen. And I’d question. And I’d make notes. And I’d research.

Then you know what I’d do? I’d study and research both sides until I could argue both sides flawlessly. Then I’d come up with an independent, nonpartisan response to the whole situation. Only then could I begin to try to fix this hoary beast once and for all.

Suspicion – if Land and Resources is the Root cause (and I can assure you, it almost always is) then this is what’s gonna work for both sides: Israel returns to 1967 borders, established by the UN and holding true to Resolution this or that and all the American treaties it signed. If they are prepared to do this, all MidEast Nations sign on to both Palestine and Israel’s right to exist and all hostilities are stopped. Future problems between occupants of the region are to be settled in NonPartisan United Nations courts in which no one nation holds sway and the genuine will of the people of the world is reflected. Any involved nation or group that goes outside of the United Nations court system gets picked up, dealt with, smacked down and what-not.

Oh, but that’s impossible, Sense, you poor adle-brained child! The UN is a (insert here: joke, totally corrupt, toothless, meaningless, useless etc). Yes. I’m sure you’re right. Does that mean it must always be so? They are a bunch of politicians. Expect nothing better from them until you demand it to be so, Citizens. Period. If you live in a Democracy then you believe that your representative works for you. Will act in your name and is therefore answerable to you. I, for one, as a Citizen of the United Nations would like more say in the goings on, more accountability. You?

That’s if you want a lasting resolution as everybody so sensibly claims they do. I’m not certain this is the case. But there you have it, a solution to the MidEast or just another collection of meaningless ones and zeroes for the infinity of the Internet.

Whatever.

Fighting Terror: What Works, What Doesn't? JUST ASK ISRAEL

Okay, there's some lessons out there to be learned. The eternal question: is anybody learning, anything, at all? The eternal answer: What's on t.v? Well, News for one thing, and for all my fellow MetaNews Analysts out there there's just all sorts of interesting things worth looking at, poking, prodding and finally coming up with some kind of answer.

How about the two different approaches to fighting terrorism that we all saw and are seeing right now? Those two approaches: Army and Military Might versus Intelligence and Good Police Work. Let's break it down, shall we?

ARMY AND MILITARY MIGHT: Battlegrounds: Iraq and Lebanon. Byproduct of Approach: Fostering of yet more hatred in the realm and the breeding of future generations of terrorists. This is beyond debate at this point, noone can credibly deny in any way that America and Israel's military 'responses' to 'Terrorism' has done anything but increase popularity of such movements and will inevitably sow more chaos and doom in the future. Hey folks, the proof is in the pudding: Hezbollah's still sticking around and will be more powerful than ever as a DIRECT RESULT of Israel's military gambit. They’ve hung in tight against a vastly stronger and multifaceted force and gained prestige in the Arab world and even the larger international arena. With Israel’s hideously monstrous actions against the entire nation of Lebanon comes the percieved legitimacy of Hezbollah in the eyes of people in the area and even many outside of it. If, as Dubya says, Lebanon is a front on the "War on Terror," I have to conclude that an important battle has been lost by US-ISRAEL. Tough noogies, all, War is for savages anyway.

INTELLIGENCE AND GOOD POLICEWORK: Battlegrounds: London and Canada. The bus bombings in London showed a textbook definition of how to treat a terrorist act. Forget whipping the populace up into a state of perpetual fear so you can remove all their rights and usher in eternal war, take a novel approach and actually pursue and catch the bad guys. Which they did. Within days. We have seen another example in the last few days where the UK has successfully intervened in thwarting another terrorist plot (though we'll see about the legitimacy of this in time) and Canada did the same a few months ago, again using good intelligence and strong policework.
Byproduct of Approach: criminals apprehended, world more safe, etc.

Seeing a pattern here? Your 'Global War on Terror' is a vast and undeniable failure, doomed from the start. Spend ALL THAT MONEY on prevention and intelligence and you'd be golden, instead of totally at risk as you still are to this very day.

CONCLUSION 1: Terrorism is best fought by good police work, great Intelligence and enhanced anti-terrorism detection techniques. This is an inescapable fact.

CONCLUSION 2: Israel-America’s greatest enemy in the Arab world? Israel-America.

MetaNews Analysis, another helpful service from the good folks at the SenseChange Center for Positive Change. Thanks, and have a GREAT day.

RandomMP3age: "Burning Ring of Fire" Johnny Cash

Rock Stars, Root Causes and the Matter of a Missing Television

I awaken to a pounding on my hotel room door. Angry pounding. Authoritative pounding. When you hear it, you know it. I’m in no shape to deal with it. Head is fuzzy. Sweating. Sprawled out on a floor, eyeing a vicious red wine stain on what looks like a very expensive carpet. Why do I drink red wine, knowing as I do how volatile a substance it is, coupled with my propensity to slosh the stuff around while pontificating? I pause to consider for the first time what brand of misanthrope would put a white carpet in a hotel room, knowing full well that irresponsible ‘guests’ like me would be staying here. I’ve always been powerless but to get pissed when staying in hotel rooms. All responsibilities seem suspended when you have a maid coming. Like they’d touch this mess. Torch it more likely.

Definitely a very weird night last night. A howling at the moon kind of night, you know? Makes for a grim scene in the morning. The television is missing. Missing? I remember something about the television. Definitely. But what? I’m not certain I want to know, but a memory lurks just on the edge of consciousness of running up a set of stairs with it in my hands, also carrying a half-full bottle of wine and nearly killing myself on the power cord. Up a set of stairs, laughing like a pirate. To what end? Certainly nothing good.

It had something to do with the latest Bush Admin echo-chamber that I was watching in the midst of it all. Dubya this time, aping Condi’s words about a cease-fire in a couple days. A totally rookie maneuver. No way this thing is cycling down in a couple days, are they nuts? Leave the off-the-wall predictions to me, will ya? No way it’s gonna happen. I’ve only been following the expanding Global War on Peace situation for a few years but I’ll tell you one of the things I learned from Iraq Deux: talk about diplomacy, talk about whatever you want but when a lot of troops are getting cycled up and moved into position, their comin’ back with something, okay? It’s just straight economics.

Cease-fire in a couple ‘a days. A rooky position to take. Dr. Condi has no idea what’s gonna happen. Neither does the Bush administration. They’re just stalling. Obvious to the world. Ugliness all around.

The hammering on the door has subsided but I’m not so optimistic to believe they’ve gone away for good. People who can hammer at a door like that have access to keys and things, of that much I’m certain. They’ll be back. The thing to do is get my head straight and figure out how I’m gonna play this and what, precisely, it is that I have to play. Coffee, as always, is the linchpin to this process, tunes as well and a sturdy barricade. Take their keys out of the situation. This is my movie, not theirs.

Feel better about it instantly. That’s right, my movie. That’s how I’m getting out of it. It’s a little something I picked up from the Immortal Ken Kesey. Take vexatious, noisy or authoritative people right out of their individual movies and throw them right into your more interesting ongoing epic. Fuck ‘em. Control the situation to your benefit. Get them out of their modes and into yours, if only for a precious minute or two. Sometimes that’s all it takes.

Take the phone off the hook. These jackals will be calling any minute. It’s their next step. Throw on some Dylan. Loud. Let ‘em get their minds around that. Put on heavy metal or rap music right now and the cops are coming. Period. I have no illusions about that. But Dylan will buy me some precious time. Couch wedged against the door. Noone gets in unless I wish it, freeing me to make a decent pot of coffee. I’m no rookie to this scene, I recall, as my mind starts flipping on switches, comes awake. All the little brain dudes start showing up to work, lunchboxes in hand.

Grab my coffee and laptop and hit the balcony, get some sunshine and a breeze into me. No television means no CNN, suicide for a blogger on the MidEast War beat and stops the MetaNewsAnalysis cold. It’s probably a good thing. Making me a little crazy. Obsessive. Waiting for the next level, where the next big domino in this thing falls, where Syria gets openly involved. Israel responds, Iran throws down and America flattens ‘em. Make no mistakes folks, that’s the next level of this thing and all the ingredients are there for it to go. Cooler heads don’t always prevail. But enough on that.

They start hammering on the door again but I just pump up Dylan. Not ready yet. Thinking about the MidEast when I need to figure out how to get out of here unscathed. Can’t do it til I figure out what happened to the television. It feels like the linchpin of the thing. I remember firing up those stairs and OneForce, that bastard, running along ahead of me, getting the doors and stuff, also laughing his fool head off. Where the hell is he now? He’s just as much to blame for this mess as I am, moreso if anything.

I remember what it was. It’s all CNN’s fault. They were replaying that Hezbollah feature and they flipped to that scene of Bush talking about ‘root causes’. What a horrid joke. OneForce won’t make political bets with me after that one. He was like “hey Sense! Dubya’s gonna talk about root causes! Check it out!” I told him Dubya doesn’t know a thing about root causes and bet him fifty bucks and a case of fine German beer that he won’t even mention the Israeli – Palestine situation, that, by all accounts, is the actual root cause of all MidEast problems, of AntiAmericanism, 911 and so much else. OneForce asks me what on earth he’s gonna talk about then. I tell him that judging by what I’ve seen lately, he’s gonna talk about what he had for lunch.

“The general parameters of a long-term, two-state agreement are well known. There will be no substantive and permanent peace for any peoples in this troubled region as long as Israel is violating key U.N. resolutions, official American policy and the international "road map" for peace by occupying Arab lands and oppressing the Palestinians. Except for mutually agreeable negotiated modifications, Israel's official pre-1967 borders must be honored. As were all previous administrations since the founding of Israel, U.S. government leaders must be in the forefront of achieving this long-delayed goal.”

Those, the words of the American President, unfortunately, the wrong President. Jimmy Carter’s take on the root causes and he’s got it, dead-on balls (August 1st, 2K6). Dubya’s root cause was Hezbollah kidnapping those all-important two soldiers. “That’s what started this conflict and Hezbollah must be held to account for it.” Or words to that effect. Way to go Dubya. Didn’t even scratch the surface, let alone get to the root of the thing. Somehow he still pisses me off even when I know precisely what to expect from him.

I went off on a long, booze-fuelled rant that the partiers in my hotel room found kinda funny. And shortly after that the television went missing. CNN and George Dubya Bush are to blame, for this and so much else. It’s true. But what did I do?

The hammering has begun anew and I can see some movement of the door in its frame, meaning they’ve utilized their key but not overcome my barricade. I haven’t got any closer to resolving this thing and am tired of the scene. Just gonna deal with it, I decide, play it by ear. Might be the ticket. With fresh coffee in me it’s worth a shot.

I call up a Rachel, a friend of mine in Vancouver that runs a magazine and give her the number of my hotel, tell her to call ‘em up and say I’m to be interviewing Paris Hilton in my room later that day and would like to make mention of the place if that’s alright with them. Having established that I bolt over to the door, throw the barricade out of the way and fling the door open with reckless abandon.

“Just what the HELL is going on out here?!?” I rage at them. They’re not expecting this. They’re the one’s that’re supposed to be pissed, not me. I decide right then and there that I’m hardlining it, right across the board. Screw it. Seems to be working just fine for Israel. “Who are you people and WHAT is with this racket! Christ’s sake!” They’re taken aback. Frightened like children. Perfect. “Well?!? Fuck off then!” Slam the door right in their faces. I put my ear to the door and can hear a hushed discussion about what’s to take place and it’s a full 45 seconds before they knock again. Quieter this time. I fling the door open again.

“WHAT?!?”

“Pardon me sir,” one of them says, “hate to disturb you.”

“And yet, here we are,” I respond peevishly.

“Might we check on the status of your television?” the other fellow chimes in, not entirely cowed by me. Yet. But to a lesser man this would be a mortal wound. I haven’t a clue what I’ve done with the thing, only that it was bad.

“Actually, I meant to ask about that,” I responded. “Are we not supposed to have televisions in these places?”

“Certainly, each room is equipped with one.”

“So were the fuck is mine then?”

I place a hand on the doorframe, blocking potential ingress. They survey the very obvious damage we’ve inflicted on the place and I’m done for. They explain to me that my television is scattered about a forty foot radius in the parking lot below me and it all comes back to me with perfect clarity, total recall. OneForce lecturing me about his spin on the world of physics, saying "gravity as it stands, is all effect, no cause," as I heave the thing as I hard as I can from the rooftop, slugging back the remainder of the vino and firing the empty off as well.

My mind remembers even as my mouth spouts a massive lie about it being all Tommy Lee’s fault and that any major hotel is gonna have to deal with rock stars, and rock stars are prone to firing televisions off rooftops. Certainly not my fault. I give him Rachel’s number in Vancouver and tell them she’s my publicist and that she’ll fire off my credentials by the end of the business day, that Tommy’s people will have to pay for everything and that I’m quite busy and not to be disturbed again. With that I shut the door and head back to the balcony to finish my coffee. They’ll not knock again, of that much I’m certain.

I look down at the parking lot and sure enough, there she be, the shattered and fragmented remains of my television. Probably for the best. Maybe just read the major trades for the remainder of the War, old school style. Yeah. No more CNN. Kinda liberating, actually.

Excellent. I regret nothing.

That is all.

‘Hideous Confessions of the Yolk Mind’ or ‘the Inherent Dangers of the One Night Stand’

Hungover. Why do I do this to myself? Not a drop of water last night. My brain is a bulbous yolk fastened hard into the left side of my skull. Shoots your equilibrium all to hell. Each movement, agony. Awoke beside some nameless, snoring, mass. I don’t know who she is, having only the vaguest recollection of OneForce slapping me on the back and telling me to go for it. So I did. And here we are. I don’t want to talk to her. Do I have to? The mere thought of it fills me with horror.

Bloody head is killing me. Been following the Israeli-Lebanon (or Israeli-Hezbollah if you’re into MainStream news labels) situation for so long it’s like there’s nothing else I’m supposed to do. I switch on CNN on sheer impulse power alone. Volume down. Pink Floyd up. Fill up a massive glass of water. I will drink several during the day in the hopes that the liquid will facilitate the transfer of the soft yolk that is my mind from the side of its cranium cage and float it somewhere closer to center. To what normalcy there be.

How many times do I have to do this to myself? And who ordered the bloody champagne? And good Christ, how much did it all cost? I check my wallet, knowing full well by the weight of the thing that I’ve spent the wad. Didn’t even leave myself a twenty for some kind of greasy spoon breakfast mess that my body always craves on days like this. Night guy always fucks the morning guy.

I hear some kind of movement from upstairs. It stirs. I shudder. I think of just running away into the streets but I can’t. Not because it would be intolerably rude –which of course it would be- but because this is a total stranger. What if she steals my laptop? Or worse? Had a buddy who did that, left a strange woman to her own devices in his hotel room and when he returned she’d taken a big shit in his suitcase. All over his clothes. True story.

Want a coffee. Will not help the yolk-mind situation, just dehydrates you more, right? Probably set my whole sobering up movement back anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour and a half but decades of heavy coffee use will not be denied on this day or any other. Gotta wait. Till she’s gone. She smells the coffee brewing and she might want one. Carrying this whole scene on much longer than it has to.

“I don’t normally do this type of thing,” she’ll say, and I’ll say “what, drink coffee?” and she’ll say, “no, you know, the one-night stand thing, I don’t normally do this type of thing.” Which will of course be bullshit and for alot of reasons. It’s not like my line of patter is particularly dazzling when I’m as drunk as I was last night. The fish has to pretty much leap into the boat all by itself.

No, it’s all bullshit and I’m caught like a rat in a cage, right in the middle of the damned contemptable thing, my yolk-mind fragile as a newborn and no coffee in my immediate future. An ugly situation by anyone’s standards and I have only myself to blame for any of it. And OneForce. Who knows where he ended up. Not here. I could use him right now, help me finesse this chick out the door with no hard feelings. He’s good at that. I’m not. Probably even take her to breakfast, be genuinely curious about her life or else talk her ear off.

She’s definitely awake now. Lord Tunderin’ Jesus I hope she just bolts out of here like a decent human being and doesn’t hold my feet to the fire and force some kind of conversation. Leave me to my hangover in peace. Peace? I look to the screen and it’s some kind of rocket propulsion device blasting either the North of Israel or the South of Lebanon or maybe some other place. I don’t pretend to know enough about who fires what, just that everybody’s firing. Stop or escalate, the only two choices in the MidEast conflagration right now, when it comes to the brass tacks. Put it out of your mind, Sense, Not ready to deal with any of that yet. Not now. She's coming. She’s coming down the stairs and I couldn’t be more afraid if she were the devil itself. Which she may well be. A bad feeling about this. Do I keep typing? Fuck.

Later,

The Boss's Idiot Nephew

Seeing all sorts of Religio-NutJobs cheering on the Apocalypse. I say cheer it on all you like, you misanthropes, I’m building a NukeProofOrgyBunker. Bunkers. A chain of them. Sell it to the rich as the whole shitcan goes up in flames. The key is you have to spend the money as fast as you make it because you never know when the full-on Apocalypse is gonna hit, do you? And money goes to shit for a while, becomes worthless compared to a box of bottled water or decent gas-masks. Or a crate of those ‘For Dummies’ books.

You know, it strikes me that we really gotta get our paradigms straight. We always get into these modes of living, these big ‘Isms’, and it seems like they always go to shit, am I wrong? We’re seeing that unfettered Capitalism in its purest form has not proven itself to be good for the Earth, the Poor or for Peace or even any kind of sustainable future. I’ve often said Georgie was a perfect example of the failings of Capitalism (now don’t go and get all pissed at me, all ‘Isms’ have their failings, even yours, okay?), and really, who can deny it? Is not George ‘Dubya’ Bush –or ‘Georgie’ as we’re calling him these days- is he not the very epitome of one of the big failures of Capitalism? A bungling moron has been given the keys TO EVERYTHING and how did he do it? Rich Daddy.

Think about it. Whattawe know about this guy? Heard anything very impressive from his pre-presidential days, anything at all? Nothing about him or his past is exemplary in any way, never was he ‘the best’ or even ‘very good at’ anything. Not a good student in school. Not a very impressive business record. Don’t even know if he finished his obligations with the National Guard, a cherry of a gig as opposed to joining America’s adventure in Vietnam. He was and always will be a guy of, I’m gonna say it, a lower intelligence than your average bloke, who always just coasted along on Rich Daddy’s steam. And here we all are.

It’s like when the boss’s idiot nephew got hired in to run your company and all you can do is complain about it when the whole shitcan inevitably goes up in flames. Don’t get any on you, that’s my only advice. And kick ‘em out one of these days, would you?

Point is, Georgie is grotesquely inadequate to handle the scene he’s in and with this gibbering chimp we have all learned, perhaps, that Money is not the answer to everything, for it has facilitated one of history’s stupidest people, ever, in aquiring the position of supreme power in all of the lands. There is obviously something wrong with the system, it should not happen, ever. It has failed the people of the United States of America and indeed, the entire rest of the world. It means the civilization is doomed if they don’t find a way to modify the system so this NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN. See what I’m saying? Think the political process needs to be reformed a little bit, so the dumb but rich guys like Georgie aren’t running the ENTIRE SHOW?

Am I wrong here? Does saying this make me a crazy person? Fine. I’m the crazy person.

America’s Interests: Arming the MidEast

America, the world's only Sherrif just loaded Israel up with missiles and bombs to continue its bombardment of Lebanon’s infrastructure. Next up, Pakistan is given the ability to produce 50 nuclear missiles a year, all of which, one assumes, would be used to threaten neighbour India. Then, against all logic…looks like the US just heavily armed somebody else in the MidEast, the Saudis of all people.

The terms of the agreement call for Saudi Arabia to purchase 24 UH-60L Black Hawk helicopters, 724 armored vehicles, 2,300 long-range military radios, and other equipment.”
-Reuters

You see this? You arm the Saudis? Home of the 911 hijackers? Didn’t their king just snort something about Israeli arrogance just days ago? Is the US actively arming both sides of the same MidEast conflagration? AGAIN?!? Any question that some day, maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but some day these choppers and what-not will end up in the hands of anti-Israeli types?

Prediction: Soldiers of the West –who never got a cent from the deal- will be killed by these very weapons sold by America to the Saudis. I personally guarantee it. Gonna date it and make if official: July 29, 2K6.

And the people involved in the deal know all this. They don't care. This is the lowest of Greedy things. These men are traitors to their country. Good Capitalists, perhaps, but traitors to their country. And to their allies! What does Israel think of America arming the Saudis in this particular Epoch of MidEast instability? Does America really care? As long as it gets rich off BOTH SIDES of the deal? Is that the deal with this NewMideast? Nothing new about this, eh Iran? Iraq? Where’d ya BOTH get all your toys to fight each other for so long? Anybody?

That’s the deal with the MilitaryIndustrial complex. Sure it makes one hell of a lot of money but every now and then it gets particularly ugly and obvious for a few moments to just about everybody on earth. This is one of those moments. Take it in.

Open Letter from the Citizenry to the United Nations

NO MORE WAR!!!

Are we closer to world Peace? For that is what we seek. The People themselves never really want to go to war. It's usually a few assholes at the top of a couple Nations that can't get along with one another that starts the wars, then the People get whipped into a frenzy -usually based on lies, propaganda and the manipulation of Fear- and we all get tricked into killing one another. We say to this: NO MORE. We are too smart for that, We want something better. We want Peace. Not more bombing or bombs. Yes, it is profitable to War and it is certainly Big Industry, but that energy needs to be directed elsewhere. All that incredibly smart tech should be designing rocket ships, space arcs, exploration suits, moon buggys, survival experts in extreme environments colonizing new planets LIKE MARS. The Militaries of the world would be so bloody great at this sort of thing if they could stop for a second devising new ways to kill everybody.

We want Peace. World Peace. Forever. Make it happen, it is the Will of the People.

That is all.

-iSenseChange

p.p. This is a chunk from an earlier,long-winded post of mine and I just cut and pasted a portion of the sucker. Want your money back? Welcome to the Machine. If you like any of this, you should check out a fresh perspective on AID to the Poor. How about a GlobalCapitalism that doesn't always screw third world countries? What if it were profitable for EVERYBODY?

Anyways, shameless plugs aside, I say the United Nations ultimately answers to the People, or at least it ought to. I defy anybody to tell me otherwise.

MidEast Ablaze: Of Bombs and BandAids

Big-hearted America promised yesterday to send humanitarian aid to Lebanon, the fledgling democracy currently being beaten to a pulp by its vastly stronger neighbor Israel, whom just received an equally generous package of state-of-the-art missiles and bombs from big-hearted America to be used to beat the fledgling democracy of Lebanon to a pulp. Confused? You should be. Let ol’ Sensey simplify it for you: You pay for the bombs and you pay for the band-aids. Okay? Okay.

*

So what does the world say about all this?
The Arab World: Immediate cessation of hostilities
European Union: Immediate cessation of hostilities
United Nations: Immediate cessation of hostilities
America: Ahhhhhhh, let ‘er buck a while, would ya?

By the way, it’s official; the biggest obstacle to peace in the MidEast remains, as it has for decades, the breast beating, self-proclaimed champion of Peace, Justice and Democracy, the United States of America.

Dear America,

You’re full of shit.

Sincerely,

-the World

Yeah, we know it’s the MidEast. Yeah' we know it’s a powder keg. Chill out. We got a humdinger of a plan. Of course, these monkeys had a plan for Iraq too. Maybe it'll work out better this time. I hear Georgie works better when there's more complexity and nuance to the situation.

13 days into a monstrous injustice, Israel’s razing of Lebanon and the indiscriminate murder of hundreds of civilians continues, included in the mayhem, it turns out, a long established and clearly marked UN post.

Tough to get a read on this one, not enough information at this point. Gonna need details like proximity to battleground, what manner of artillery and what-not. But I endorsed Kofi in the beginning of this thing and I gotta stick with him. He says he thinks it was on purpose, I believe him. I don’t think he’d say it if he didn’t. Not here. Not right now.

See, my read on Kofi is that he knows precisely how serious this scene is at the MidEast and is doing what he can, given the limited power the United Nations is allowed by its member Nations. I endorsed him, I stand by his word. Call me a fool, call me an idiot, but do me a favor baby, just keep a’callin’.

While I’m being a fool…

Here’s the funny thing about the UN, folks. I think it might just end up being what We the People make it. How 'bout it? It’s not a country. It is a collection, an organization that represents the Nations of the World. Well, fine. I seek to be represented in democratic fashion, in its truest form. I want to vote on things. I think maybe we should all be able to vote on all sorts of things in this United Nations of ours. You?

I want to vote on it. I want the citizens of Ghana to be able to vote on the same question. And everybody else, too. Have to adjust for population differences, right? But that’s easy. Yeah, we all get votes.

Here’s a real laugh for you: Enough votes, so, representing the wide majority of Citizens on Earth and we can veto a veto. I know. Crazy talk. Sheer lunacy. Damn nigh impossible. Damn nigh. The mere thought would reduce even the fiercest of NeoCons to blubbering children. “Oh my god, we’ll have to answer to the larger community!?! To the People?!?!?!"

Hoho, too far there, Sensey. Too far. Right. Back to the comedic relief. What’s Dubya up to?

Ah forget it. He's freaking me out lately. Talking like six year old on a field trip to Putin, rubbing up the Chancellor of Germany. I'm predicting a total presidential meltdown (crying, carrying on, who knows?) or the reappearance of the mysterious little box under his suitjacket. (July 27, 2K6)

G'nite bloggers.

MidEast Ablaze: Dr. Condi to the Rescue

A scant 13 days in, American diplomacy whisks to Lebanon to save the day for all concerned. Well, some of those concerned. No surprises so far and none expected.

"This is a different Middle East. It's a new Middle East. It's hard. We're going through a very violent time."
-Dr. Condy, ignoring calls for a cease-fire 13 days in. (July 24, 2K6)

Dr. StrangeRummy gave us “Old Europe.” Dr. Condi gives us the “New MidEast.” I guess the NeoCons, for all their twisted evil minds, sense change as well, eh? How's that for freaky? Making myself puke. Hold on. Yep, Old Europe, New MidEast and the only thing that’s certain is that nothing will ever be the same again.

Uncertainty! OneForce tells me the quantum physicists, at least, will be pleased. I almost get it and most likely you don't either. Don't worry about it.

New MidEast, eh? Let’s see, whattawe got? Political turmoil, ugly confrontations, destruction, dislocation, human suffering, the sustained killing of innocents and innocence. Hmmmm. This new Middle East of Condi’s sound a whole lot like the old Middle East to anybody else? How does one tell what is the new and what is the old? What part of the old MidEast wasn’t hard or violent again? I can’t remember. You?

Nope, no surprises here.

*

Syria, like Iran, is sounding pretty ballsy these days. Pretty ballsy.

"If Israel makes a land entry into Lebanon, they can get to within 20 kilometers of Damascus. What will we do? Stand by with our arms folded? Absolutely not. Without any doubt Syria will intervene in the conflict. I repeat, if Israel makes a land invasion of Lebanon and gets near us, Syria will not stand by with arms folded. It will enter the conflict."
Syrian information minister, Moshen Bilal (July 23, 2K6)

Syria says if Israel comes too close, Syria will fire. Iran promises a “crushing” response from the ‘Islamic World’ if Israel strikes Syria. Why are all these MidEast countries so ballsy lately? What’s that you say? After watching the horrible, ongoing clusterfuck of Gulf Deux some Nations are getting a little cocky? Yes, makes sense I suppose, but isn't it mildly possible that they have something up their sleeves here? What's the CIA saying, surely they have dudes on the ground that...what's that you say? The CIA is horribly incompetant and America's many varied intelligence agencies are more interested in fighting each other and spying on their own Citizens than anybody else?

I digress. Point, Sensey? Ah yes. Iran and Syria knows if they take on Israel they’re gonna be takin’ on the biggest of the Bigs, at the same time, right? They just sound so ballsy. Hmmmm.

Anyways, what's the call?

Syria strikes Israel and then the war’s official. Israel (and possibly America, given the current political climate) strikes back. Iran (and whoever else comprises the Islamic World, one supposes) jumps in because they said they would if Israel strikes Syria. Iran strikes Israel, America strikes Iran.

Anywho, that’s my call on the scene. For now. Subject to incoming information.

*

Remember all those Democrats like Lieberman and Kerry that voted in favor of Gulf Deux? Find me a single major American politician speaking out against Israel’s disproportionate response and the razing of Lebanon. Not a one of them. All of which begs the question, in fact the only real question in the whole rigged deal otherwise known as American Politics: “What’s it gonna be, America? Puppet on the Left or Puppet on the Right?”

Enjoy your day.

-iSC

p.p. I think the UN’s the WildCard in any real shot at an actual Peace process in the MidEast. Takes the People, also, wouldn’t you think? That’s what I think. Yeah, I know, call me a fool. Don’t care. When your alternative is Georgie and the NeoCons, well, you go ahead and make your own decisions.

Your MacroPerspective on the MidEast War

Okay. Listen. The Drums of War are banging once again. As bloggers hard on the trail of Truth we’re entering a phase where we can’t tiptoe around things for Fear of offending people and still cover the story properly. This is sophisticated political analysis here, folks, so some stuff you’re just gonna have to suck up if you want to go any further into what we here at the SenseChange Center for Positive Change call ‘the MacroPerspective.’ Leaps have to be made here. You want to play it impartial, BiPartisan to the Truth? Okay. Here goes.

Both the United States and Israel have publicly blamed Iran for these ALL IMPORTANT THREE SOLDIERS. Like a simple kidnapping requires some kind of evil mastermind and shitloads of funding. It’s ridiculous. No Nation gives a fig for the life of one, two, a hundred or a thousand of it’s soldiers when the war drum is banging, and if you don’t know that by now or think your very special country just isn’t like that, well, you’re most likely not going to like where I go from here. There’s probably some super ‘American Idol' blogs on this very site you could go and get a whole lot more out of.

Gone yet? Good. Time for the adults to speak on the Big Things. We go by alliances and look at the scene. The sides. Call ‘em Axis or call ‘em Allies or whatever you like but we’re dealing with alliances. All the makings of a Great War, this one.

So stop looking at individual groups like Hezbollah or the Lebanese army or the Israeli soldiers. We’re goin’ macro. Stop looking at Israel, stop looking at Palestine, stop looking at even the good old U.S. of A. We’re going reeeeeeal macro. Somebody else can give you the analysis of all the little groups. We’re gonna talk about the BigDogs. Deal with it or take a hike.

In a scene like this you have to look at alliances. Whole nations intermingled with other whole nations. Here’s the deal: every player in the MidEast has connections to the real big players. Everybody on earth knows Israel and the US are amongst the staunchest allies perhaps EVER, surely nobody would bother questioning that, and as such it’s been made abundantly clear both in the past and RIGHT NOW.

So, for the purpose of MacroAnalysis, we will not speak of Israel or America but rather US-Israel (henceforth dubbed US-I). Now, if you look at the region from this perspective, US-I is on a huge tear. They are in Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon, Gaza and repeatedly rumbling angrily about Iran and Syria. That’s a big chunk of the oil-rich, Middle East, however you choose to paint it. You want to understand the latest MidEast War you have to make this connection or else you’re behind. You’re reacting to the News which never tells anybody about the important stuff until it’s already blatantly obvious to all.

ASIDE: In times of War, when ‘participants’ mention other nations and especially if they are assigning blame, you are being prepared for the NextLevel. This thing is about to ratchet up, folks, make no mistake about that. US-I will attack both Iran and Syria (or defend against the evil regime of old whats-his-nutz, however you want to paint it up. I’m NonPartisan. Don’t care how it gets expressed so long as it gets expressed), make no mistake about that. (July 23, 2K6)

And what of the Other Side?

Iran’s pretty cocky these days. Pretty cocky. No question. They think they got some shit up their sleeve. They take on Israel they're taking on America, plain and simple. They know it. If you want to contest this you know nothing at all of the Mideast. So, what do they have up their sleeve? Anybody? No?!? Hmmmm.

In the MacroAnalysis, how do we tackle the other side of this thing? Of what use is it trying to keep track of all the little groups in the MidEast that are pissed at the US-I Alliance? Can’t. Could take all day. Is there an alliance or some relationship of sorts between Hezbollah and Iran, or Syria? I don’t know these things but we’re gonna make another leap: if there ain’t a relationship yet, THERE WILL BE SOON. The enemy of my enemy is my friend, right? One of the oldest maxims of large-scale war, that one.

What do we call an alliance between Syria, Iran, all the little anti US-I groups (terrorists, freedom fighters, whatever, don’t care about the label) as well as whatever other Mideast Nations (both in secret and openly) decide to jump into the fray? Shall we just call it Arabia and be done with it? Done.

US-I versus Arabia.

You there yet? Figure you’re all caught up on the Macro yet? Not quite.

‘Up and Comer’ China is as thirsty for Oil as the good old US of A and has made no bones about making deals with Iran. Oil is LifeBlood. China needs it. Iran has it. They have a relationship. ‘Comeback Kid’ Russia also has strong relationships with Iran and has quite recently demonstrated a military alliance with China (remember that huge series of War games these two Nations recently demonstrated for the world? You don’t? Was ‘Survivor’ on? Ah yes. Of course it was).

Yes sir, all the fixin’s for a Great War, this one does.

You can make your own conclusions on all that, but at least nobody can tell you you weren't exposed to the MacroPerspective.

Heads Down, Citizens, Pecker’s Up!

That is all.

And hot shit, just when you thought it couldn’t get any stranger:

Georgie’s Big Adventure: What the hell’s he doing with the chancellor of freaking Germany? Still struggling to digest Georgie’s grotesquely inappropriate shoulder massage of a fellow G8 leader. That’s a new one Georgie; ‘creepy guy at the party’. Your range amazes me. You guys catch this? Unbelievable. Is this just a frathouse kegger thing to him? Used to pick up broads by rubbing their shoulders. Hey, you and me both Georgie, BUT KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF THE OTHER G8 MEMBERS. Unbelievable. Keeps getting weirder and weirder. Clinton would’ve had the good sense to have picked up a chubby little waitress or something and nailed her in the biffy when nobody was looking. No harm no foul!

“Keep the apron on, babuh, yeah, like that.”

You know, Hunter S Thompsen was repeatedly quoted as saying it never got weird enough for him. I wonder what he'd say about this, now. Christ, what's next for America's Boy Wonder, Georgie 'Dubya' Bush? I’m waiting for him to cut a big, stinky fart or something. Start crying. Who knows? All bets are off.

MidEast Ablaze: Kofi Steps Up, Georgie Ponders Lunch

"While Hezbollah's actions are deplorable and Israel has a right to defend itself, the excessive use of force is to be condemned."
Kofi Anaan, Secretary General of the United Nations (July 20, 2K6)

As many of you may or may not know, I recently endorsed United Nations Chief Kofi in these very pages, said I will back by 100% whatever words come out of his mouth in this all important MidEast conflagration. The brother didn’t let me down, not one iota. Didn't let you down neither, Citizens.

I say people oughta listen to the brother! One thing, I believe he too senses vast impending change. Know what else? I think he’s a ‘Transcender’, not an ‘Ender.’ Think he sees the potential Renaissance better than anybody. And had a few dark nights contemplating the Appocalypse, as well. And, I suspect, he reads. Always a good thing. Kofi’s the Man. You gettin’ this?

Strange things. Strange things. Hey, just thought about it. How many Lebanese displaced by the latest invasion-smiting on their land? Guess what? You work in a building that just got destroyed? You don’t work anymore. Which means you’re gonna be poor. And if your apartment just got hit too? You ain’t got nowhere to live. You ain’t got shit. You’re displaced. So’s everybody else. Nowhere to go and everybody’s pissed off. And still getting’ shelled at.
More displaced and angry people in an area that already has far too many with far too little. Here’s some more! That’ll make things better! See how stupid it all is? See how it’s only getting worse? Same thing but more? You know? What the hell. Hell?

Hi, Satan? Yeah, Sense here. What’s that? I know! We’re actively making it worse up here! You believe it? Yeah! Just doin’ the same thing over and over! Makin’ it worse!!! Hah! I know! It’s like we never learn! Yeah! Knew you’d be laughing your ass off! Yeah! Okay, talk to you, man.”

And what about Georgie’s Big Adventure? Still going! The MidEast is ablaze, we need to know what America, the world’s former SoleSuperPower is going to say or do about it and Georgie’s all excited about his lunch. A charred and blackened pig on a spit. I forget, was it the Jews or the Muslims that consider it a sin to eat swine? What’s that you say? Both?!? Hmmmmmm. Hilarious, but whattaya make of that? Anybody got anything? Keeps talkin’ about the pig, keeps talking about the pig, keeps talking about the pig…what the hell’s it all mean? Actively offending not one but both sides of the conflict or is Georgie just cosmically doomed to always look like a moronic, braying ass each and every time the camera turns upon him? Am I wrong? Who organizes these things?

Should RealityTV him right now. I’d call it Georgie’s Big Adventure. It’d be awesome. Let’s take a look right now: Georgie stretched out on the floor of AirForce One, coloring.

CUT TO: HANDLER:“Well, he certainly spends a lot of time coloring so we got him maps to color. We’re working on him. He’ll do fine.”

THIS JUST IN: I will be collecting links on my blog to wartime bloggers. Make no mistake about it Citizens, the War On Information doesn’t cease in the face of global conflagration, it intensifies! This much should be obvious. We gotta stick together. For the unvarnished Truth of the whole bloody thing for once and for all! C’MON! ARE WE BLOGGERS OR NOT? I want blogs from all sides of the conflict, I want it all, I want all sides and we check it all out, poke the shit prod the shit and what stands, stands! See what I’m saying? I think it’s important. I think it’s something we can all do. We read. We talk. We listen. We learn. We blog. Yes?

You hear about Beezer? Funny. A blogger in an affected part of Lebanon (what's that you say, all Lebanon is affected. Ah yes. Of course) gets a story from CNN on him. Big league push for a blogger. Except they never gave out his url. Notice that? I understand and so does Beezer. Why help the competition? Here it is folks

Here's another one. This chick’s bloggin’ it live from Iraq. Gimme a genuine Israeli blogger somebody, would you? Gotta be out there. Keep 'er NonPartisan here, eh? What are the Egyptian hipsters saying about all this? Every nation has hipsters. It's cross-cultural. Gimme an Egyptian blogger. Anybody hears about other wartime bloggers of any stripe, let me know. Or blog ‘em up and let me know. I promise a read and a comment. It’s my only currency.

All.

MetaNews Analysis: Palestinian BodyCount

Seeing absolutely nothing of the Palestinian component of this thing. We know shit’s going down in Gaza and we see and hear nothing. No reporters live on the scene. No interviews. It’s a back-pager compared to the suffering Lebanon or by Israel. But these are people too, aren't they? Are they not suffering also? Not being reported. As such, this is the number I will be focusing on until the MainstreamMedia rights itself or is abolished as the worst kind of useless.

An aside to my good friends at the News; you are on the wrong side of history every second you betray the integral component of your job, the one thing you are charged to do above and beyond everything else: present the pure, unvarnished Truth of the matter for all to see. You are vermin until you are anything less. All I ask IS THAT YOU DO YOUR FUCKING JOBS YOU BUNCHA SELF-SERVING DICKS!!!! It’s suddenly become important.
(I know. Language. Sorry. Trying. Seriously.)

Anywho, based on the trend I see emerging from my MainStreamMedia, I choose to report whatever they’re not and nobody’s reporting on this part of the conflict. And it IS a part of the story, isn't it? You want to get down to root causes (and don't get me started on Dubya's ruminations about Root causes. What a moron . Doen't even understand what the expression is supposed to mean. He really is that stupid, it turns out) of the MidEast conflict and we're not dealing with Palestine? That's officaly not covering the story. Dicks. It’s NEWS.

So I gotta cover it, ugly as it is, because, for whatever reason, nobody else is doing it. Gimme what you got on the Palestine-Israeli part of it, whatever partner of the mutual suicide dance club you subscribe to and any updates on the bodycount from any source. It's gross, I hate it, but it’s my blog. I mean, job. Six buck a year. I break twenty I’m just gonna spend it on booze.

Georgie's Big Adventure: the G8 Summit IS NOT Just A Big Birthday Party

First, let me indulge in a few moments of fleet-footed Fantasy:

MOVIE TRAILER VOICE:"The MidEast is Ablaze. The world looks for its greatest SuperPower to step in and set things right again as only America can. When the call is sent, who better to step up to the plate but time tested and gritty American President, George Dubya Bush. From Texas. The collective sigh was heard round the world, from the citizens of the rebuilt and empowered New Orleans to the newly democratized and near ‘FirstWorld’ citizens of Iraq, now upstanding members of the United Nations and firm ally in the War on Terror! Actively working to pressure OPEC for reasonable gas prices!!! Ah yes, who better than George ‘Dubya’ Bush, perhaps the greatest American fighterpilot of all time that almost single handedly turned the fate of the Vietnam war, saving us all from the godless commies once and for all! Not speaking Russian right now? Well, you can thank George Dubya Bush! Amen, hallebloodylulah! Who better than George "Dubya" Bush, Commander in Chief of the mightiest military and economy in the world to step in and save the world, just one…more…time?"

All the makings of a classic American film, explosions included: Dubya, a straight D student rising up through the ranks of business and fortune, an oilman in time, proving himself the very epitome of business acumen and proof, some say, of the American Dream. You too can be president! And all thought that was an excellent idea.

Could always make a comedy out of this thing. Could probably use real footage, real speeches. Yep, that's the thing to do. We should have good movies as we slip into our Apocalypse. Ahhhh. That's better.

You really have to smoke, covering this War. The whole thing becomes a dark comedy where even though you know the whole thing's destined for smoking ruin and badness, it still gets pretty funny now and then. So you smoke a lot. Listen to great music from only the sixties, seventies or early 2K punk. Techno even. You keep CNN on with the volume off, all day, twenty-four seven.

Hey, Soledad’s lookin’ hot! Just had a kid but is now, officially, fully refortified in Foxtitude. Shirt unbuttoned to about the sternum. Coffee, double cream colored skin. Big brown eyes. Always thought she was sexy. Cute too, you know? Cute and sexy, same time. Oh yeah. Absolutely. I know her hubby’s there, don’t care. She’s a bonafide fox and I’d love to run into her in a bar somewhere, see if I can get a dance with her, you know? A little of the old close talk as we used to say growing up. Married or not, I say I got a shot, I really do. Right circumstances? Oh yeah. Soledad. But is she the hottest of CNN reporters? Anybody else have a fave? Reporter hotness, Integral component of your SenseChange Metanews Analysis. Throw in yer two cents.
But where were we? Ah yes. Georgie's Big Adventure.

The reality, of course, is that Georgie’s never really extensively traveled before he wandered into the presidency and it should not surprise anyone anymore that Georgie is just starting to trigger to things like the fact that China and Russia are both pretty big places.

“Pretty big goldarned places!” Georgie beamed, wolfing back great heaping gulps of pastry. You need to understand, for Georgie, all this is like a great big birthday party that only the cool kindergartners get to go to. Everybody’s over, there’s cake…

“Hot damn!” Georgie pounds his fist into the table, “look at the size of these things, eh Putes? Countries? Yeah, countries and stuff! Heh. Decided m’nna call you Putes. Heh heh.”

Okay, that’s not a direct quote but believe me, he looked like, well…very Georgie. You know? What’s the word, man, are we not bloggers? What’s the word. Closest thing I can come up with is Infantile. Le mot juste if only just for now. Cute if it’s your two year old, terrifying if it’s your president. Period.

I keep trying to think of famous stupid people in history that, somehow, Georgie is not as stupid as. Famous men of Great Import that most honest historians would consider stupider than SoleSuperPower President Georgie Dubya Bush. I come totally blank. C'mon, whattaya got? Anybody? Anything from the cheap seats on that one? Prove to me that anybody in history was stupider than ol’ Georgie who somehow wandered into the single Most Important and Powerful Position on earth, BAR NONE. Of one thing and one thing alone I am entirely certain: It took alot of stupid people to make George 'Dubya' Bush a President. Twice. You can do whatever you want to with that.

Look, he’s gotta be managed better. Georgie, I mean. They’ve been letting him wing it lately and it's just SO NOT WORKING!!! Give him the little box under the suitcoat trick again! Hey, fuck it, right? We all know it’s there and we prefer it to whatever it is your doing right now!
It's the "Box Under the Suit Coat": Not just for speeches and debates anymore!
Yep. Needs the box under the suit. Any time he has to speak with anybody or do anything at all other than basic creature comforts and personal moments stroking his bible. Or boozing. Recoiling in horror from his coke-snorkelling, alien ShapeShifter wife . I don’t pretend to know what this cat does in his personal moments anymore. It's all just too weird.

Left or Right, all Citizens of all Democratic Nations ought make it a priority to elect presidents and leaders that read books. Grades should be important also. IntensivePsychologicalNonPartisanProfiling would probably not be an awful thing, as it turns out.

Life, America, is NOT a SitCom.

All for now. Maybe.

Lebanon Crumbles, World Watches, Terror Wins

In times of historic importance and great Change, some quotes generated from within the situation totally crystallizes the moment and upon reading them, a wary reader can see History forming before his or her very eyes. That was my feeling, just now, reading the paper.

“Is this what the international community calls self-defense? Is this the price we pay for aspiring to build our democratic institutions?”
-Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Saniora

The anguish and desperation in these words is palpable and the first words of a politician in this scene that I take as a 100% bonafide Truth, not an easy thing to find in times of War. It’s Truth because Fouad is watching everything that he and others in his country have worked so hard for being utterly destroyed. He knows it. Dubya knows it. Every leader in the world knows it. Do you?

I have taken and firmly hold a non-partisan stance, this being the only true path towards peace for the region and world. Having said that, Israel absolutely MUST stop its widespread destruction of the fledgling democracy of Lebanon to prevent its own peril if nobody else’s. 60 innocent Lebanese civilians killed JUST YESTERDAY ALONE.

Look folks, this isn't what happened in 2001, or 1948 or three hundred years ago, this is what's happening RIGHT NOW. Fact is, Israel is actively reducing Lebanon to rubble and a great heaping shitload of innocent humanity is getting wasted in the process. Of the nearly 300 dead in Lebanon, how many are innocents? And will their families say "ah well, I truly believe that missile was meant for a terrorist, not my beloved, and therefore I forgive." I doubt it. What would you think?

I know Israel is taking hits too! And I hate that JUST AS MUCH. Thing is, the guys doing the shooting at Israel are actual terrorists, right? Terrorists have the bad rep they got because they don’t care about killing innocents! Right? Whatever it takes do accomplish what they seek, period. Because they’re EVIL! Right? Ask yourself, how does this differ from Israel’s wanton ravaging of Lebanon? Responding in kind (and in a WILDLY DISPROPORTIONATE manner - 300 NOW DEAD! I mean really, I hope you get your THREE SOLDIERS back! That's if you haven't already bombed them to kingdom come with everything else of significance in Lebanon) makes a Nation what, exactly?

I mean, Al Quaeda, Hezbollah, Hamas, whatever, kill em all twice as far as I'm concerned. Three times! But all of Lebanon is a target? Water and power plants? All the ports, the roads, the airports? This place was just getting her shit together! Just gained independence of Syria! Developing a burgeoning Democracy in the MID-BLOODY-EAST OF ALL PLACES!! And it's getting TORCHED as we SPEAK! RIGHT NOW!!!

Well, I always heard that two wrongs don't make a right, and when you answer a 'wrong' with 'even wronger,' well, Israel just ends up making itself out to be every bit the big monster that it's enemies have always said it was, which sucks because it's only gonna cause more trouble for them. Nothing's getting solved here! I challenge one person to tell me how anything's getting solved here! More and more terrorists are being born of this tragedy every day and noone anywhere can deny that. Noone anywhere. More terrorists for all, but especially Israel and, it must be said, the good old US of A, and I would say any ‘civilised’ Nation that sits back and watches the murder from afar and says it’s all justified and Isreal may do whatever it wishes to anybody so long as it is in "self defense".

It’s not justified. I have no choice but to say the Israeli leadership and the leadership of Hezbollah or Hamas or any terrorist group, Al Quaeda even, are all a bunch of blood-thirsty murdering dicks and that I hope one and all go to whatever Hells they believe in. So, there you have it.

As for the international community that stands aside and watches Beirut burn to the ground, all the while claiming the hope that democracy will somehow survive in Lebanon though all know it shall not. Is it any wonder that so many in that part of the world turns to the terrorists for leadership?

“Is this what the international community calls self-defense? Is this the price we pay for aspiring to build our democratic institutions?”

More terror and hatred to follow. America has failed once again to be the paragon of justice it has always claimed to be. The International Community is actively failing in its roles, responsibilities and even it’s morality every passing second it fails to order a screeching halt to Lebanon’s vicious razing.

Terror shall not win? It’s won, friends and neighbors, by reducing Lebanon to rubble, the Israeli leadership to animals, America to a dim-witted cheerleader and the international community to mewling lapdogs.

Shame. One and all. Again. Damn you.

-iSenseChange

Your MetaNews Moment: I can easily get figures from multiple sources on the innocent Lebanese (300)and Israeli deaths (29) but nothing on the Palestinians in Gaza. Come to think of it, we see reports from Lebanon and Israel every night all night on the news and nothing on Palestine. Has the violence stopped over there? No? Yet, no news. Interesting.

MidEast Ablaze: Israeli, Arab...Same Difference?

Almost a week(?) into the MidEast scene, still no idea on the scope of it. Is it "World War III: the Great Oil War(s)" or can the thing subside somehow? Back into the box. Just one more time, you can do it. There you go. Whew! You're getting, like, BIG.

I don't want to be partisan, and I'm not. I'm not pro-arab any more than I'm pro-israeli. Such divisions are OldWorlde and you all KNOW IT. I'm pro-Earthian, you sons of bitches (damn, sorry LiveOaks), which transcends all this petty garbage that inflicts humanity like a cancer and has for so long. GROW UP! WE'RE SENTIENT BEINGS! WE CAN DO BETTER THAN THIS OR WE DON'T DESERVE ANY OF IT AND WILL KEEP NONE OF IT! BECAUSE WE'LL JUST BE GONE!! WHAT? YOU THOUGHT WE WERE SPECIAL?!? HAH!!!

This scene has been mismanaged and f**ed up for DECADES!!! What is the MATTER WITH US! WITH ALL OF US!!! WITH YOU!!!

Sorry. Where was I? Rambling? Right. Blamed the whole thing on the reader. Attaboy Sense. No wonder you haven't made ten bucks offa this shit.

The weird thing is that the more you hear both sides, the more they sound the same? Anybody else catching this? Each side of the conflict can go back to their little dates when their sworn enemy for life did something awful and terrible after an agreement was to be made, had the chance for peace and screwed it forever. Both sides will do exactly that, and many of them can go all day. And it goes a little something like this:

ISRAEL: “Bloodthirsty jihadist terrorists attack Israel. AGAIN! Naturally worried for the safety of her people, Israel defends herself. Terrorists in turn escalate their horrific attacks. Israel escalates the vigorousness of its defense for the security of its people. Both sides keep escalating and a lot of totally innocent Earthians die.” (49 words. I think.)

PALESTINE et al: “The Occupiers step up their campaign to repress the Palestinian people and take yet more of their land. AGAIN! Palestinian freedom fighters respond however they can to such an overwhelming force. Israel in turn escalate their destruction. Both sides keep escalating and a lot of totally innocent Earthians die.” (49 words. I think.)

There you have it, folks. There's nothing more similar to the Arabs than the Israelis. And vice versa. Whew. Wrap your mind around that one. Just tripped myself out. Hmmm.

My fervent Hope is that I offended all, equally.

The Essential, Larger-Scale Fact of the Matter: Both sides are and have been actively killing each other for decades, and for pretty much the exact same reasons, just different nuance and perception. In the end the situation is that both sides are actively involved in a mutually suicidal cycle of Mayhem and Death, each contributing towards there own demise and each other’s. It's like you were made for one another, but only to destroy.

Again, I can only Hope with a whole heart that I have offended all. And equally.

Here’s why I think the cycle can be broken (and don’t worry, I already know myself to be a fool): People can actually break cycles. I’ve seen it happen. Might’ve even done it myself once or twice. I’ve seen it happen many times on the individual level. So if one can, who’s to say many can’t? Do you know it for fact? I’ll tell you what I know for a fact, and that is that the only true Constant is Change.

What does it take? Leadership. NonPartisan leadership that can grasp the inherent similarities of these groups, take both sides into account and view both of their pasts with real, genuine empathy. How's that for crazy-talk? I know. Well, put on your crazy pants and assume that such a thing were possible. Who's gonna do it? America has precluded itself from this role (which ought be it's natural right, being the world's only SuperPower) by giving one side a blank check. America's too close to judge independently, can we all agree with at least that? Please? You can't fix the MidEast mess if you're partisan. In the end you're not gonna do anything but add to the mess, throw fuel on the fire like the rest of the madmen, now legion.

Nope, NonPartisan leadership must be able to see both sides of the MidEast conflict or it just goes on unto the Apocalypse.

NonPartisan Leadership from somebody. But who?

Jeez (and I said that instead of the f-bomb LiveOaks), I could suuuuuuure go for a cuppa Kofi about now...

Yes. Well, goodnight then.

-iSenseChange
